Philosophy

 

1. Children

1.1 Children are active participants in creating their own
1.2 Children's inherent connection to the natural world is
encouraged and celebrated where they have the opportunity to explore all natural elements without restriction.
1.3 Play is children's work. Where appropriate play will be child directed, interest based, freely chosen.
1.4 Play will be fun and provide the opportunity for a challenge
1.5 A play-based learning program will be provided which is designed to stimulate children's love of learning, exploration and social concepts
1.6 Children are encouraged to make choices about their day
1.7 Children are seen as; people, competent, confident learners, friends and teachers

2. Families

2.1 Partnerships between staff and families are developed and valued.
2.3 Family consultation will be encouraged and facilitated to review centre policies, practice and philosophy
2.4 Children have the opportunities to develop partnerships across ages and spend time with their siblings
2.5 Families and the community are encouraged to actively participate in the centre's daily activities
2.6 Families actively participate in their child's learning
2.7 Every child and their families will be treated as an individual
2.8 Mutually respectful and trusting relationships between children and adults will be the aim of all interactions

3. Staff

3.1 Staff aim to achieve excellence in their role as educators and nurturers, thereby earning the respect of children, families and other professionals within the community
3.2 Children will not be discriminated against as recommended by the UN convention on the rights of the child

4. Community

4.1 The Tree House Community is defined as children, families and staff will facilitate and provide an opportunity for families to connect and feel a part of their local neighbourhood
4.2 Raise money for Local Neighborhood groups and/or global community each year

5. Environment

5.1 Children's inherent connection to the natural world and the outdoor environment will be encouraged and celebrated
